Katrina is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the metropolitan area serving clients in both Washington DC and Maryland. Katrina acquired her Bachelor of Science in Psychology at Bowie State University and her Master of Social Work from The Catholic University of America. Katrina has over 19 years of experience providing culturally sensitive and trauma informed counseling to individuals, couples, and families.
Katrina has worked with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families in both individual and group counseling settings. Her practice knowledge was acquired from work as a rehabilitation specialist, guidance counselor and social work counselor at which the latter two took place in a school setting. Katrina has worked with adolescents and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, grief, trauma, stress, ADHD, learning disorders, and life transitions. She has also provided counseling to couples facing challenges as well as premarital counseling.
Katrina’s therapeutic approach is holistic, eclectic, and collaborative to meet the needs of clients. Katrina utilizes a variety of evidence-based treatment modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Play Based Therapy, Trauma Informed Therapy, Strengths Based Approach, Solution Focused, Mindfulness, and Person Centered. Katrina also specializes in working with clients to improve self-regulation encompassing both emotional and behavioral regulation, interpersonal skills, communication, and executive functioning skills.
