Sam has been working with adults, couples, adolescdents and children in a variety of settings since 2005. He received his Masters of Social Work from The Catholic University of America which he feels prepared him for his role as a therapist. Sam holds a deep appreciation for the client-therapist relationship. He started his career as a therapist in the DC public school system working with children from grades pre-k through high school and their families. Since that time, Sam has expanded his clinical work in private practice to include adults and couples and has been working with all of these populations for years now.
Sam has completed Level 1 Training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy. In addition to using psychodynamic techniques, Sam utilizes CBT, Two-Person Psychology and Relational Theory models in his work with clients. He feels it's important for the therapist to be a part of the therapeutic process and enjoys working with folks from the beginning of treatment until the end; he never wants his clients to feel they are alone on this journey. Sam hopes his process helps his clients feel confident in themselves so that they can find the courage and fortitude to change, which he recognizes is one of the hardest things a person can do.
